Frequently asked questions
Sound, vibration
and intentional listening.
Sound healing is a relaxation and mindfulness practice that uses sound, vibration, and intentional listening to create a space for rest and reflection.
The experience
Sound, stillness and what to expect.
What is a sound bath?
Sound healing is a relaxation and mindfulness practice that uses sound, vibration, and intentional listening to create a space for rest and reflection.
During a sound bath, you are invited to lie down or sit comfortably while a practitioner plays instruments such as crystal singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, and other therapeutic sound instruments.
At Kyma Wellness, sound baths are designed to offer a pause from the noise and demands of everyday life — creating an opportunity to slow down, breathe, be present, and reconnect with yourself.
How does it work?
Sound travels through the environment as vibrations that we can hear and, with some instruments, physically perceive. During a sound bath, your attention is gently directed toward these sounds, which can encourage a meditative and deeply relaxed state.
The combination of stillness, focused listening, slow breathing, and a calming environment may help reduce feelings of everyday stress and support relaxation.
Everyone experiences a sound bath differently. Some people may feel deeply relaxed, while others may experience a sense of calm, mental quiet, or simply enjoy having dedicated time to rest. Sound healing is best viewed as a complementary wellness practice rather than a medical treatment.
What might I experience?
People may experience a range of benefits from sound baths, including:
- Deep relaxation
- A sound bath provides dedicated time to pause and release from daily demands.
- Stress reduction
- Creating a calm environment and focusing on sound may help you unwind.
- Mindfulness and presence
- Listening to sound can give the mind an anchor, helping you become more aware of the present moment.
- Mental reset
- Taking a break from screens, notifications, and daily responsibilities can provide valuable mental space.
- Improved sense of wellbeing
- Many people leave a session feeling calmer, lighter, refreshed, or more grounded.
- Support for restful sleep
- Relaxation before bedtime may help create conditions that are more conducive to sleep.
- A deeper connection with yourself
- Time spent in stillness can provide an opportunity for reflection and self-awareness.
Individual experiences vary, and sound healing should not be considered a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.
Do I need previous experience?
You do not need to know how to meditate or have any previous experience with sound healing. Sound baths offer a gentle opportunity to relax, slow down, and practise mindfulness.
They can appeal to people who feel overwhelmed by a busy lifestyle, want to incorporate more relaxation into their routine, are interested in mindfulness and meditation, enjoy holistic and complementary wellness practices, want intentional time away from everyday distractions, or simply want to experience something new and restorative.
What happens during the session?
The sound journey incorporates different instruments and frequencies to create a layered and immersive listening experience.
There is nothing you need to achieve during the session. You don’t need to “clear your mind” or meditate perfectly. Simply get comfortable, listen, breathe, and allow yourself to rest.
At the end of the session, there is a gentle transition back into your surroundings, giving you a moment to notice how you feel before continuing with your day.
Before attending
Your comfort and participation.
How long is an experience?
The private and group experiences in our service price list include a 60-minute experience. Corporate and wellness sessions are also available for 60 minutes, with longer experiences available on request.
For a ticketed event, check its published start and end times on the Events page.
What should I tell Kyma before attending?
Please let your practitioner know about any relevant physical limitations, injuries, sensory sensitivities, or other concerns that may affect your comfort or participation.
If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, have a history of seizures, or are unsure whether sound bathing is appropriate for you, please consult your healthcare professional before attending.
The booking form asks whether there is anything we should be aware of before your session, with an optional space for relevant information. You can also contact us at info@kymawellness.co.za.
Can I change position or leave during a session?
Yes. Participation is voluntary. You are always welcome to adjust your position, take a break, or leave the session if you feel uncomfortable.
Please listen to your body and follow the facilitator’s instructions and any venue-specific safety rules.
When should I arrive?
Participants are encouraged to arrive at least 10–15 minutes before the scheduled start time. This allows time to check in, settle in and prepare comfortably for the experience.
Once a sound bath has started, late entry may not be possible, to maintain a peaceful and uninterrupted environment for all participants. Where late entry is permitted, please enter quietly and follow the facilitator’s instructions.
Booking & payment
Tickets, PayFast and manual EFT.
How do I book an event?
Open the Events page, select the event you would like to attend, and choose your ticket quantity. Complete the booking details, read the event information and terms, and accept the required acknowledgements.
Review the total, then choose PayFast or manual EFT. Bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed only after payment has been verified.
What information does the booking form ask for?
The form asks for your full name, email address and phone/WhatsApp number; a health and wellbeing yes/no question with an optional details box; and an emergency contact’s name, relationship to you and phone number for in-person events.
It also includes five separate acknowledgements covering accurate information, the wellness nature of the experience, voluntary participation, communicating relevant concerns, and acceptance of the Terms & Conditions and Cancellation Policy.
Can I book for more than one person?
Yes. One person can purchase multiple standard tickets, subject to available spaces. The total changes according to the number of tickets and the price set for that event.
Complete the personal details and acknowledgements for yourself as the lead booker. These are not health declarations or personal acknowledgements on behalf of the other guests.
How are ticket prices calculated?
Each public event has its own ticket price, based on that event’s venue, available spaces and arrangements. The event page and checkout display the amount payable.
The private and group service price list is separate from public-event tickets. Its group-price brackets are not automatic discounts on a ticket order.
Do I pay the full amount or a deposit?
For current public-event tickets, the full amount is payable. Any separately quoted private, group or corporate booking follows the payment terms agreed for that particular booking.
Can I pay through PayFast?
Yes. Select PayFast at checkout to continue to its hosted payment page. Check the merchant and total before completing payment.
Your booking is confirmed after the payment has been verified. Returning to the website from PayFast is not, on its own, a booking confirmation. The booking-status page shows the current result.
How does manual EFT work?
Choose EFT at checkout to receive the bank details and your booking reference. The booking stays unconfirmed until the money has arrived in the bank account and Kyma has approved the receipt.
Sending proof of payment alone does not confirm a booking. Once an eligible booking has been approved, you will receive the confirmation and event details by email.
Is my place held while I arrange payment?
No. Unpaid bookings do not reserve spaces. A booking reference or pending payment record is not a reserved place.
If a payment arrives after the event fills up or can no longer be confirmed, the booking requires review. Please contact info@kymawellness.co.za with your booking reference. Do not assume a place is confirmed without a booking confirmation.
What happens after payment, or if it fails?
Once payment is verified and the booking is confirmed, you receive a booking-confirmation email with the event details. Kyma is also notified.
Failed or cancelled payments do not confirm a booking; the associated unpaid booking is cancelled. If you have paid but your booking is still awaiting verification or marked for review, contact info@kymawellness.co.za with your booking reference before making another payment.
Changes & venues
Event terms, transfers and mobile experiences.
Can I cancel a booking or get a refund?
Ticketed event bookings are generally non-refundable unless otherwise stated. Read the cancellation and refund terms for your particular event before booking.
Private, group, corporate and wellness bookings are subject to the cancellation and rescheduling terms agreed upon at the time of booking.
Can I transfer my ticket to another person?
Where permitted, a ticket may be transferred to another person if Kyma Wellness is notified within the timeframe specified for that particular event.
Check the event’s terms and contact info@kymawellness.co.za with your booking reference to discuss a transfer.
What if Kyma cancels or changes an experience?
If Kyma Wellness needs to cancel or substantially change an experience, participants will be contacted and any applicable refund or alternative arrangement will be communicated.
Does Kyma have a permanent studio?
Kyma Wellness is a mobile wellness experience and does not currently operate from a permanent studio. Sound baths may take place at hired studios, private venues, workplaces, retreat spaces, event venues, homes or other suitable locations.
For public events, use the venue and address shown on the individual event page.
Can I arrange a private, group or corporate experience?
Yes. Kyma offers private sound baths, small- and large-group experiences, and corporate and wellness experiences. Visit our experiences for the supplied service information and prices, or email info@kymawellness.co.za for a personalised quote.
Outside Johannesburg, travel is calculated separately according to distance and logistics. Out-of-province bookings may require a custom quote or minimum booking fee. Venue hire, accommodation and additional event-related costs are quoted separately where applicable.
Where can I read the Terms & Conditions?
Read the Kyma Wellness Terms & Conditions (PDF), opens in a new tab. Event-specific terms and instructions also apply and are shown with the relevant event and during booking.
The booking form asks you to confirm that you have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions and Cancellation Policy.

Our approach
A gentle
reminder.
Sound healing is a wellness and relaxation practice. While many people find it beneficial, individual responses will differ.
Kyma Wellness does not diagnose, treat, or cure medical or mental health conditions, and sound baths are not intended to replace advice or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional.
Our intention is simple: to create a safe, intentional space for you to pause, breathe, listen, and reconnect.
